Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ShutterPlan ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you visit our website (shutterplan.com), use the Face Finder Pro desktop application, or interact with our licensing services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide, manage, and secure our services, issue software licenses, and support our users. Depending on how you interact with ShutterPlan, we may collect:
Account & Contact Information
When you request a license, contact technical support, or create an administrative account, we collect information such as your full name, business or studio name, and email address.
Software Licensing & Activation Data
When activating Face Finder Pro on a desktop workstation, our licensing servers process:
- Issued License Key identifier and customer account details.
- Anonymized device cryptographic hash (derived via SHA-256 to bind your license slot without collecting raw hardware serial numbers or unhashed machine GUIDs).
- User-assigned computer name and operating software app version.
- Name and email address of the administrator or staff member initiating the activation.
- Activation and last verification timestamps.
Website Usage & Server Logs
When browsing our public website, standard Web infrastructure logs capture request metadata such as IP addresses, access timestamps, and browser user-agent strings for network security and rate-limiting purposes.
2. Local Processing of Student Photographs & Biometrics
Face Finder Pro is engineered as an offline-first desktop application. All neural image embeddings, facial detection algorithms, student portrait files, and index database caches execute strictly on your local hardware. ShutterPlan servers do not receive, store, transmit, or process your student photos or biometric face embeddings.
3. How Information Is Used
We use the collected information exclusively for legitimate business and technical operations:
- To issue, validate, and manage Face Finder Pro software licenses.
- To enforce device activation limits (e.g. maximum permitted concurrent workstations).
- To calculate offline grace period tokens for uninterrupted application use.
- To maintain audit trails of license creation, activation, verification, and revocation events.
- To detect and prevent rate limit abuse, fraudulent license usage, or security breaches.
- To respond to customer support inquiries and provide operational assistance.
4. Data Storage & Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to safeguard data:
- Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your browser or Face Finder Pro application and our servers uses Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).
- Secure Cryptographic Storage: License keys and tokens are stored using salted cryptographic SHA-256 hashes to prevent unauthorized credential recovery.
- Hardware Identity Anonymization: Technical device identity binding uses standard irreversible hashing so raw machine GUIDs are never stored or transmitted.
- Strict Access Controls: Administrative interface access is restricted strictly to authorized ShutterPlan system administrators.
5. Third-Party Services & Store Distribution
ShutterPlan utilizes cloud hosting and database infrastructure providers (such as Google Firebase) solely to host our website and license verification database.
When software is distributed via application platforms (such as the Microsoft Store), software downloads and platform licensing operations comply with the respective distribution platform requirements. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or business data to third-party advertisers or data brokers.
6. Cookies & Local Storage
The ShutterPlan web application uses essential session cookies and local browser storage required for navigation, authentication, and secure form submissions. We do not use intrusive advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
7. Data Retention
License records and associated activation audit logs are retained for as long as your license remains active or as required for accounting, auditing, and legal compliance purposes. Revoked or deactivated device records remain in historical audit logs to ensure accurate license compliance history.
8. Children's & Student Data Privacy
ShutterPlan and Face Finder Pro are commercial B2B solutions designed for professional photographers, studios, and educational photography vendors. Our public website does not directly solicit or collect personal information from children or students under the age of 18.
Any student photograph metadata or roster lists processed locally by a studio using Face Finder Pro remain under the direct control and responsibility of that photography studio and school administrator.
9. User Rights & Data Requests
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have rights regarding your personal contact and account data, including the right to request:
- Access to the contact and license records associated with your email address.
- Correction or updating of inaccurate account information.
- Deletion of your contact information (subject to active license verification and statutory retention requirements).
To submit a data request, please contact our support team at arif@upwardly.ae.
10. International Data Transfers
Information collected by ShutterPlan may be processed and stored in jurisdictions where ShutterPlan or its service providers operate, subject to appropriate technical safeguards and applicable law.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect enhancements to our software, shifts in operational practices, or legal requirements. When updates occur, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Effective Date" at the top of the policy.
